What Boardmarks is
Boardmarks is a visual Chrome bookmark manager and New Tab productivity workspace that combines bookmarks, todos, habits, notes and reminders.
Instead of a blank page or a grid of recently visited sites, every new tab opens your personal workspace — with visual bookmark boards, a todo list, a habit tracker, notes, and reminders all in one place. You do not need to install multiple extensions or apps for each function; Boardmarks covers all of them from a single New Tab experience.
Built on Manifest V3
Boardmarks is built on Chrome's Manifest V3 extension platform, which is the current standard for Chrome extensions. Manifest V3 provides a more secure, performant, and privacy-respecting foundation compared to older extension architectures. This matters for long-term reliability — extensions built on Manifest V3 are better positioned for continued Chrome Web Store support as Google phases out older extension formats.
The extension requires permissions for New Tab override, storage for saving your workspace data locally, and Chrome bookmarks access for import and Quick Save functionality. No browsing history or personal data is collected for advertising.
Who it is for
People who want a better Chrome New Tab than a blank page or a cluttered start page — especially if you manage many bookmarks and still need todos, habits, notes, and reminders in the same place. Boardmarks works particularly well for:
- Knowledge workers who live in the browser and need project links, tasks, and notes accessible from every new tab.
- Students managing research tabs, reading lists, assignment deadlines, and daily study habits.
- Freelancers juggling multiple client projects with separate bookmark boards and task lists per client.
- Founders and operators who track many links, set recurring reminders for operational tasks, and want a morning ritual that starts with a clear view of priorities.
- Anyone tired of tab pile-up who wants to save all open tabs to organized boards and close windows cleanly.
Key features at a glance
- Visual bookmark boards — boards with drag-and-drop, color coding, and Quick Save.

- Reminders — timed alerts with priority, recurrence, and sticky due notifications.

Install
Install from the Chrome Web Store. Open a new tab to launch Boardmarks. A 7-day free trial is available from the extension — no credit card required to start. Pro plans (monthly, yearly, or lifetime) are purchased on this website if you want to continue after the trial. The free trial gives you access to all features so you can evaluate the full experience before deciding.
Search on New Tab
The optional search box uses your existing Chrome default search provider via the Chrome Search API. Boardmarks does not replace or override your default search engine. If you use Google Search, DuckDuckGo, Bing, or any other provider as your Chrome default, searches from the Boardmarks New Tab use that same provider. You keep full control of your search experience.
Privacy and local-first storage
All workspace data — bookmarks, todos, habits, notes, reminders — is stored in Chrome local storage by default. This means your data stays on your device and does not pass through Boardmarks servers during normal use. Optional cloud backup is available after Google sign-in for Pro licensing — it is not required for any feature. Privacy Mode is available for moments when you need to blur your workspace content, such as during a screen share or in a public space. Read the full privacy policy for details.
